At the Goldsmith Craft & Design Awards at Goldsmiths Hall, London, Catherine's Master Jeweller Phil Horton FIPG won the highest award in the Diamond Mounters Senior Category for the exclusive and bespoke Catherine Best design, the Sword of Justice.
This is one of the most prestigious awards by one of the most prestigious institutions in the world of silversmiths and goldsmiths. The piece was handmade by Phil and set with diamonds, rubies, pearls and aquamarine with a delicate enamel finish. The award is an absolute honour, and reflects the exceptionally high standards in which we measure ourselves by.
Silversmith Brett Payne, Chairman of the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council, said: “At the heart of the Council’s annual competition is the opportunity for individual craftsmen and designers to submit a piece of work which they feel represents the very best of their artistry and skill. The competition as a whole, and the subsequent exhibition of entrants work at Goldsmiths’ Hall, represents a reflection of the industry’s skill base both as an annual snapshot and indicator for the future.”
Unrivalled talent in design and artistry sets Catherine Best far beyond her contemporaries. Each piece is born from a love of jewellery and decades of experience as a master craftswoman, and Catherine continues to push the boundaries of her art, creating pieces that are to be treasured for generations to come.
